Last night I used Keir's new LED head torch and was very impressed. The difference between this and my old 'conventional torch' type is immeasurable. Will have to get one like his.
Having a good torch gave my far more confidence on my 7 mile route which included about 5.5 miles of unlit country roads (at least 2 miles without a pavement either). Of course some car drivers made things a bit hairy at times: almost blinding me with their headlights usually but in one case missing me by about two inches when driving past ...
Overall though I'm definitely getting better and more confident with a head torch.
Six or seven miles is a lot different to six or seven hours though.
